PFFT! Issue 1 - available now

Well, Pfft! is printed, bound and ready for purchasing. I think it looks and reads fantastically. 30-36 8x11 black and white pages filled with articles, images, stories, manifestos and utter nonsense from at least 20 artists/writers from the yow collective. There are two versions which are primarily them - the orange sickle and the bare blue bottom.

Unfortunately none of the ad space came through but I did manage to printed the whole damn (maga)zine myself. This helped reduce the costs significantly. The only problem is distribution now. I was hoping to lay it out for free in various places and ship it around the world. This may now be hard because it puts the burden on the outside distributors (those who want distribute it) So I am going to leave it up those who request to do it. I can either send them digital files or a template edition.

I will be selling it on the site for $4 to help finance the next edition. Look for it in the dada yow store front hopefully at the end of the month. I'll probably start Pfft issue 2 in july. Though this depends on interest and sales of pfft 1. I am going to do my best and promote the hell out of it. I might have a place locally to sell it at - I just have to get back over there to discuss arrangements. I am going to try this weekend.

Pfft! is the Swing Shift! yo. kle folk!

Well, I have put 99.9% of the finishing touches on Pfft! issue #1: So those who pledged material and failed, failed terribly, failed miserably to deliver the goods. Tough fist brackets, but there's always issue 2. Which goes into production in april 2008 and hopefully takes less time to produce.

Pfft! issue #1 is 30-32 pages and full of brilliant experimentalists works.

It features a whole list of contributors and now with more grammatical errors hahaha. Honestly, I didn't really edit this issue because every other thing in the world strives for perfection and I like the unpredictability of imperfection.

Anyway, I am looking into printing costs at the moment. I know I said a would print it up myself but the construction of some the pages were difficult for initial printing. So I might do a precentage at the copy shop.

Right now here are the figures:
===============================
FedexKinkos:
32 copies @ .09 per copy = $2.88
spiral / coil bind @ $4.49 = $4.49
50 copies total cost: = $368.50

OfficeMax
32 copies @ .09 per copy = $2.88
spiral / coil bind @ $1.99 = $2.69
50 copies total cost: = $278.50

Staples
32 copies @ .08 per copy = $2.56
spiral / coil bind @ $1.99 = $1.99
50 copies total cost: = $227.50

I've stopped working with Pfft! for the moment to start on another booklet also slotted for April or sooner. I have to add in only three more pages and edit a few pages then I am finished with what I have to do. Then I just wait for those who
pledged material to send it along. Though I haven't been to the post office box lately so who knows what crazy stuff is in there. The ad spaces will have to be filled up so I'll do that in january but I won't set anything up until I have the finished pfft! issues in my hand.

For those who want to print and distribute Pfft! themselves I am not sure now how I am going to do that. Its been a hit and miss getting very thing designed just right. Maybe I'll just send an unbond version to copy. Yes. Thats what I'll do that would be easier for everyone.

am I done yet?

Decorate the Dada Tree

Attention:!!! dadA Ornaments wanted! Yes, yes, yes. I have procured a ornament tree expressly for dada ornaments. What I am hoping is that any dadaist artists out there will send me a strange ornament they've made for the dada tree . I will in turn take a picture and post it on the blog(s).... if it goes well I will put up a bigger tree next year. On the tree this year there is room for 28 small to medium sized ornaments. Anybody interested?

contact me here and I will furnish my address if needed.

ps. I will do the same for anyone that asks.
